SINGAPORE-BASED insurtech firm Axinan has entered the Philippine market as it is set to launch a smartphone insurance product with The Mercantile Insurance Co., Inc. (Mercantile).
On October 29, 1962, Edmundo F. Unson, Sr. together with other businessmen founded The Mercantile Insurance Co., Inc. The early years of Mercantile were spent in the bustling district of Escolta, Manila, and five (5) years later, transferred to Juan Luna, Binondo. In 1975 it built and found its current home in the historic Walled City of Intramuros.
